3rd Pari Mohan Folk Culture Festival celebrates Folk Heritage with Grandeur

Dharmanagar March 31: The three-day long, third Pari Mohan Folk Culture Festival, held from March 28 to March 30, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm. Organized by the Pari Mohan Social Welfare Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the festival highlighted the importance of preserving folk traditions.
The event began on March 28 with a seminar, debate, and quiz competitions on folk culture, jointly conducted with Dharmanagar Government College. Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Rani Das Sen inaugurated the program, which saw the participation of around 300 students.
On March 29, the cultural segment was inaugurated by Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. Distinguished guests applauded the initiative and emphasized the role of such festivals in revitalizing folk heritage amidst Western cultural influence. Samar Chakraborty and other guests appreciated the vibrant discussions and competitions that enriched the festival.
The festival brought together folk artists from across Tripura and beyond, showcasing a kaleidoscope of Bengali and Tripura folk culture. With performances by various groups and overwhelming participation from youth, the festival infused fresh vigour into cultural preservation efforts. The convener, Himadri Sekhar Debnath, concluded with gratitude and shared the organization’s year-round efforts to sustain folk traditions.
